There are some movements in Blackhatworld competition, now appeared some blog posts, so now it is a good time to get a closer look to the list of free hosts for blogs.
Everybody knows Blogger or Wordpress, and what are the other options ?
The most popular besides two are:
http://www.livejournal.com/
http://www.myspace.com/
http://360.yahoo.com/
http://spaces.msn.com/
I would like to add also
http://www.bravenet.com/webtools/journal/
and
http://www.typepad.com/pricing/
the last one is unfortunately paid service that starts from $4.95 per month
but one of the best in its class.
The huge list of gree services you can find
here
it is about one years old, but still valid.
Thinking back about our competition, there are two new blogs high in the ranks
from
http://grazr.com
http://vox.com
there is also a role of backlinks, but looks like these two sities get enough authority to rank fast.
We will se how long the posts remain positions, so far -
our brick in the BlackHatWorld wall.
The new contest created by Blackhatworld forum bring my attention to the top players in the SERPs for keyword 'Blackhatworld rocks '.
Not surprisingly , only after the few days in the top are social sites, well established domains.
There are a lot of forum posts, and digg, but at the very top are:
--------------
hubpages.com
squidoo.com
xomba.com
freewebs.com
--------------
These are the Websites where you can create one of few social pages for free, and use them for marketing your products.
You can put your own ads on the pages, also the links to your places, and information of your products.
The pages have to be useful to the site community, also they have inner ranking systems to prevent from spammy pages.
Taking the squidoo for example - the page created there is called a 'lens' , now the created recently lens ranks very high for new
keyphrase by itself, it can also bring some future traffic to the places it promotes.
BTW. I've found the interesting post explaining increasing web traffic with squidoo lens that points out the importance of proper tag using.
The squidoo lens is now ranked very high, I wonder if with the time will slowly sink down, like the blog posts, that usually have some 'expiration period'.
During the marketing campaign the stress is put on high ranking in Search Engines for carefully chosen keywords related to the product to sell. The highest position on SERP pages, more people visiting the site pages.
The key strategy is to choose popular terms used by many people when type question into the SE box.
The phrase can consist of only one or two words 'travel' ' cheap travel', or be a combination of narrowed keywords called long-tail queries.
The long tail is for example 'cheap travel to Poland in September' and includes more specific terms for search engines.
Jeffrey Smith in his post for seo design solutions says "...Arguably individuals, who use 'long tail search queries' are typically looking for more than just information. they are closer to the end of purchasing cycle as a result of them seeking more relevant results..."
They are more willing to get the product - subject of their search - better customers willing to act.
However according to his opinion the 'long-tail' strategy works best for large sites with many indexed pages. Sites with 20 or so static pages are to choose narrow separate high ranking keywords.
This time something different.
We add some Spanish flavor to our reviews.
This is a new site and a blog about history of Poland.
The name is e-guia, and the blog is written by the Polish guide with more that 15 years of experience.
The URL to the site E-guia
I've found some tips at problogger by by Darren Rowse and one advice about is worth mentioning
it goes like that: ..." The key is to find those places where your potential traffic is already gathering and then to think about how you can become a part of those sites/communities in a way that draws traffic to your blog."...
The sites are forums, social sites like Digg, and bigger blogs with posts about similar subjects.
Important is to not spam those sites, but make the posts useful for the others.
